The class 3-4BG enjoyed a STEM lesson last friday
STEM LESSON
Our class enjoyed some S.T.E.M this week based on the book, ‘Hickory Dickory Dash’ by Tony Wilson and illustrated by Laura Wood.
This picture book was read to us last Wednesday as part of the National Simultaneous Storytime. It is about a mother mouse searching the house for her two missing sons before the clock strikes one, with a very determined cat on her tail!
We imagined that we were the cat in this story and our mouse was a ping pong ball. What type of maze could we create to slow down this mouse? The maze could only be made from playdough and had to have at least three straight walls with the measurements, 10cm, 15cm and 20cm. We blew through straws to propel our mice around each maze.
All students worked collaboratively in their small groups, had a chance to test out their critical thinking skills and thoroughly enjoyed the challenge!
