Our library is a place where students, staff and our school community are always welcomed by Mrs Clift, our qualified Teacher-Librarian.
The flexible space provides tiered seating for instruction, storytelling and presentations. There is seating for group collaboration and breakout areas for study, quiet reflection and reading.
Our library has a diverse range of books to encourage reading for pleasure and to support K-6 teaching and learning programs. Students and staff can visit the library during staffed hours, which includes morning, lunch breaks and after school, as well as their class time. Students can also browse and reserve books online by logging onto their NSW DoE portal and clicking on the Oliver library icon. Students are encouraged to regularly borrow and return their books weekly. All classes engage in weekly, hour lessons which enable literature, library and research skills, enhancing their classroom programs.
The library teaching and learning program is aligned to the NSW DoE Primary Libraries Scope & Sequence K-6 Information Fluency Framework.
The library is opened each lunchtime for students who would like to engage in quieter activites. Our Year 4 & Year 5 library monitors facilitate games, drawing and Lego for these students.
