As part of the NSW Department of Education Arts Unit, a film festival was created to allow primary school students to explore the art of film making. In 2017, the Film by the Eucalypts Festival was developed for all Blue Mountains Primary Schools. Starting with 7 schools, the festival now has 17 schools participating making it the Premier Film By community in the state! We are so excited to be involved for the first time.
Last week, Mr Goodridge and 6 students from Year 4 attended a Film Gala Day at Springwood PS. Students participated in editing, scriptwriting, acting, sound and green screen workshops. The day was a huge success, with students commenting that they had learnt so much more about filmmaking and couldn't wait to finish editing their first film. Attending students will showcase their work to their fellow classmates and then pass on the knowledge they learnt from the Gala Day. Students will have the opportunity to enter their films for consideration to be shown on the big screen at the Springwood Hub later in the year.
We look forward to presenting some amazing short films to our school community and thank you to Mr Goodridge, Toby, Lailah, Kaitlyn, Lucy, Arlen and Gemma for taking on the challenge.
